Route recommendation process
How RouteFit works
RouteFit turns one confirmed start and one clear time or distance target into a small set of distinct walking or running route options.
1. Confirm the route start
Use browser location when it is accurate enough, or enter a place and explicitly choose the intended match. RouteFit does not accept unverified browser-supplied coordinates for an entered place.
2. Describe the outing
Ask for a walk or run in plain language. RouteFit shows the interpreted activity, target, route features, effort and running pace before search, with detailed controls available in the same form.
3. Generate and check routes
RouteFit requests bounded candidate routes, checks time or distance fit, geometry quality and the requested route environment, then considers weather, air quality and daylight.
- Exact results are within 5% of the requested target.
- Near matches are within 10% and are clearly labelled.
- Weak duplicates are not added just to reach three options.
4. Choose how to use a route
After choosing a route, you can save it to a private account, download exact GPX geometry, create a temporary exact RouteFit transfer, or open an approximate handoff in Google Maps.
